Maritime

The attorneys in our Maritime Section understand the complex issues involved in navigating maritime law. Three of the partners practicing in the Maritime Section have received their Proctor in Admiralty designation by the Maritime Law Association of the United States, and are each AV-rated.

Our firm represents shipowners, fishing vessel owners, agents, charterers, maritime employers and contractors in all areas of maritime torts, including seamen's injuries, stowaways, charter disputes, cargo claims, investigations, property damage, oil and chemical spills, and other regulatory violations.

Our Maritime attorneys have practiced in matters involving domestic and international maritime commerce, including offshore drilling contractors, Protection and Indemnity Clubs, oil and gas exploration, and transmission companies.

The Section's attorneys represent clients before federal and state courts and agencies, including the United States Coast Guard, OSHA, Immigration and Customs Enforcement (ICE) and Customs and Border Protection (CBP), the National Transportation Safety Board and the Texas General Land Office.

When necessary, other Sections of the firm are brought in to provide additional resources on matters involving energy, employment and litigation.

Other areas of expertise include financial representation for the purchase and sale of vessels and enforcement of liens, interpretation of marine insurance policies and coverages, and the practice of regulatory and administrative law.
