Partner
James F. Buchanan is a founding partner of Welder Leshin, LLP.
Jim Buchanan is Board Certified through the Texas Board of Legal Specialization in Civil Trial Law.
Jim’s practice is focused on litigation and maritime law. He has represented ship-owners charterers and underwriters in all types of maritime disputes including seamen’s personal injuries, collisions, allisions, groundings, chemical spills involving mass tort claims, oil spills, and cargo contamination. His recent work has been primarily in construction litigation and contractual disputes. He has also handled a wide variety of personal injury claims and claims for contractual indemnities and insurance coverage issues. He has served as counsel in arbitration proceedings and has served as an arbitrator.
Jim has also represented international oil exploration and producing companies in the litigation of lawsuits, including royalty disputes and drainage claims.
